Heroes Con’s Silver Anniversary is turning Golden! Yup, Charlotte’s premiere Convention is turning twenty-five! And do they know how to celebrate with a tremendous line-up of guests and con exclusives, including the return of comics headliner Michael Golden, and a triple-header of Golden artwork that will grace the program book, t-shirt, and give-a-way poster at the show.
The images for the t-shirt and poster, at the request of Spiderman aficionado--and Heroes Convention Organizer--Shelton Drum, is a spiffy homage to Todd McFarlane’s Spiderman #300 with a twist: One will feature the black costume, the other the traditional Spidey we all know and love. The image idea was a well-timed choice, especially since Todd just penned a terrific introduction for Michael’s new art book "Excess: The Art of Michael Golden," from Vanguard Productions, due in August, citing Golden as one of his own influences. It all comes full circle if you will.
And if that weren’t enough, the official convention poster by Golden features, a "madder-than-heck" Silver Surfer blasting off at the Fantastic Four—just in time for the movie! This eye-popping piece has never been used for a poster, and never will be again, so get yours while the supplies lasts! Michael will be on hand at this booth in Artists Alley all three days of the show to sign one for ya free of charge.
All for the Silver Anniversary of the convention routinely touted as a fan AND pro "must go to" destination.
"This is one of my favorite conventions that I’ve had the privilege to attend in the past, " said Michael, about the con that was actually the first to book him when he announced he would be attending shows in 2007, "I couldn’t miss this anniversary for Shelton Drum and the gang in Charlotte. I’m honored that they’ve decided to feature my artwork so prominently, as well."
Heroes Con will continue those honors with some special programming concerning this groundbreaking creator, along with a few possible surprise guests who want to put in their two cents. What can we say? It’s gonna be a great weekend all the way around, and marks Michael’s first return to Charlotte in ten years! Don’t miss it.
The Heroes Convention takes place June 15-17th at the Charlotte Convention Center. Go to www.heroesonline.com for more details.
