Majestic, battle-ready and ruthless, Arthur Suydam’s beloved antiheroes Cholly & Flytrap are finally physically realized with a gorgeous and detailed bronze figurine to be displayed at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con International 2009. Hand sculpted by Suydam himself, this figurine is the first of a very limited signed and numbered quantity to be produced by Radical Toyz, a wholly owned subsidiary of Radical Publishing. The figurine displays Cholly sitting on top of his sumo-sized companion Flytrap heading off into incredible action, adventure or trouble that comes their way.
Fans will have a chance to view this one-of-a-kind piece of art at the Radical Publishing booth #3735 during San Diego Comic-Con International from July 23-26, 2009. Cholly & Flytrap creator Arthur Suydam will be present to sign copies of the San Diego Comic-Con 2009 Preview book, at the Radical Publishing booth. Suydam will also be on hand at the Radical Publishing Creator Panel on Friday, July 24th from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M in Room 4 to speak and field questions about Cholly & Flytrap and future collaborations with Radical.
Fan favorite creator Arthur Suydam’s work has appeared in publications for Marvel, Image, Dynamite, Heavy Metal, Epic Illustrated, Penthouse and National Lampoon. Best known for his award winning covers for the Marvel Zombies, Suydam has contributed to some of the most well known and beloved properties in the comic book world including X-Men, Batman, Wolverine, Fantastic Four, Aliens, Predator, Army of Darkness, Tarzan, Conan and Red Sonja. His classic Image series Cholly & Flytrap will be re-released this Summer, in hardcover, with 156 page of exquisite, handpainted watercolor art, for the first time as Cholly & Flytrap: Center City.
Suydam has been awarded the prestigious Gold Award in Spectrum 12 (2006), the San Sebastian Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the University of Maryland and many other awards from around the globe. Suydam has also been honored with inclusion in Spectrum 14: The Best in Contemporary Fantastic Art while his story Christmas Carol was chosen for inclusion in The Mammoth Book of Horror and Legends.
Both Arthur Suydam and the one-of-a-kind Cholly and Flytrap bronze figurine will be present at the Radical Publishing booth during San Diego Comic-Con International 2009 July 23rd-26th, 2009.
