CELEBRATING BCZF!
Big Brown Eyes is a collective of three sisters – Emily Rose, Karis and Freya Lambert – who will be debuting a number of comics and zines at the Bristol Comic and Zine Fair on October 3rd. Eagle-eyed ‘Small Pressganged’ regulars will, of course, recognise the name of Emily Lambert as one of the contributors to the fourth edition of inclusive UK anthology Dirty Rotten Comics (BF review here).
Emily’s comic strip ‘Dreamscape’ in DRC #4 was my introduction to her work and I said of it at the time that “of the newer names to ‘Small Pressganged’ Emily Rose Lambert’s ‘Dreamscape’ impresses with its mix of the mythological and the recognisable, the otherworldly and the incongruous.” If you were a fan of that short story then you’ll be pleased to hear that an expanded version of Dreamscape will be available at BCZF.
As part of our ongoing coverage of the Bristol Comic and Zine Fair ahead of the big day, we’re running a preview today of a number of the comics that will be available from the Big Brown Eyes Collective’s table at BCZF including Emily Rose Lambert’s Dreamscape (“a comics montage of strange dreams”) and Four Days in Budapest (“a collection of comics and illustrations”), and Karis Lambert’s Cats and Wine (“a book of comics based on university life”). The sisters will also be launching Beginnings (sample images above) – a collection of five short stories – which I will be reviewing later in the run-up to BCZF.
