Two upcoming courses/workshops at the Cartoon Museum have come to our attention which will, no doubt, be of interest to London-based Broken Frontier readers.
Firstly, and tying into the current Sarah Akinterinwa & Mary Darly: A Dialogue exhibition, comic artist and printmaker Zoè Delautre will be running a one-off ‘Reduction Lino Printmaking Workshop’ on Thursday October 6th from 6.30pm to 7.30pm where participants will have the opportunity to create their own limited edition series of multi-coloured prints. From the Cartoon Museum site: “Over the course of the session, you will be introduced to the principles of designing an illustration and transferring it onto a lino plate, as well as learning about the print registration process, as you create a small edition of your own unique prints.”
And, secondly, long-term BF fave Rachael Ball will be running a six-week course over October and November for adults called ‘Create a Compelling Comic’ which will take you into all aspects of the comics creative process. From the Cartoon Museum site: “By the end of the 6 week course you will have: Developed your comic scene and characters, created a rough plot and script, made a rough of your comic and experimented with materials and colours for the final look of the comic. This course will help you develop confidence in the comic’s medium. If more advanced it will refine and nuance your skills and you will benefit from 1:1 mentoring and group feedback. At the end of the course we will discuss professional opportunities and the comics community.”
Rachael is, of course, the creator of such acclaimed graphic novels as The Inflatable Woman and Wolf. So you know you’ll be in good hands!
