After the successful ‘Framed’ exhibition last year, curated by UK self-publishing mainstay Sean Azzopardi, another small press exhibition is running in the “magical comics city” of Hull until July 22nd. Details on ‘Just paper and ink’, organised by local artist Gareth Sleightholme, in the press release below.
‘Just paper and ink’ is an exhibition of comic pages and framed works in The Space, Prospect Centre, Hull.
Curated by Gareth Sleightholme, and to align with Hull Comic Con (July 15) this exhibition aims to demonstrate comics created by variety of cartoonists with a strong presence of local creators. There is a large selection of comic pages and aligned to these are a number of educational visuals, references and quotes. It will give the most casual of visitor a gentle introduction to the magnificent world of comics.
Gareth will be in residence for the duration of the exhibition, working on his own comics and happy to talk about the work on display.
It’s already creating a buzz, visitors have been commenting on how great it is.
