Just last week at Broken Frontier we took a look at the most recent issue of ThirdBear Press’s anthology series Boxes. From this September the micropublisher will be expanding their catalogue with a collection of the comics of K. Briggs whose work we first covered at BF waaaay back in 2013. Full details and some preview images from Sycamore in the press release below.
ThirdBear Press are preparing to publish the UK edition of Sycamore, a collection of short comics by K. Briggs
Sycamore will be coming to Kickstarter in early September. Those interested can sign up on the Kickstarter page to be notified just as soon as the project is live.
Along with some new work, Sycamore brings together a selection of Briggs’ autobiographical comics that appeared in their out-of-print collections Magpie and Fox & Heron. They cover their time living in Scotland and Germany, before dealing with the shock of divorce and transitioning back to their old, but now new life in Pennsylvania.
Briggs creates in a unique style that gives the feeling of a particularly intimate diary. The comics are drawn on scraps of graph paper or old newspapers with train tickets and family photographs adding a scrapbooking reality to the visual memories captured on these pages.
As mentioned above, anyone interested can sign up to be notified as soon as the Kickstarter for Sycamore launches in early September.
