Sequential Scotland is “a brand new comic convention coming to Glasgow on Saturday 2nd of August 2025, featuring an incredible guest line up showcasing some of the most talented creators currently working in Scotland and the UK.” The event has just announced those guest artists and it’s a top list. Emma Oosterhous is a cartoonist originally from Colorado, and completed her Master of Design in Comics and Graphic Novels at the University of Dundee in 2019. She is the artist and co-creator of Grand Slam Romance with her partner Ollie Hicks. She likes to make comics about messy, funny, horny queer people in love, as well as educational comics about animals, and is excited to be bringing Grand Slam Romance: Farewell to Babes to Sequential Scotland, the third in the series.

Gustaffo Vargas is a Peruvian comic creator now based in Scotland. He has worked for Marvel (Marvel’s Voices: X-Men), Image (Nullhunter, Image Comics Anthology #10), CRAYTA Comic and more. He co-created his series Nullhunter with writer Michael Walsh, and is excited to bring ANTICUCHO and other Peruvian cyberpunk stories to Sequential Scotland this year.

Julie Campbell is a comic artist and illustrator based in Fife. Julie’s work is often heavily inspired by nature and her background in natural history. Her personal comics work draws inspiration both from relationships with the natural world and from the emotional and spiritual journeys we take throughout our lives. Her stories feature growth and reflection, with a focus on glancing backwards, in order to look ahead. She will be bringing her latest comic How to Watch Wildlife, which was successfully funded on Kickstarter at the end of 2024.

Ollie Hicks is an Eisner award nominated comics editor. They live in Birkenhead with their wife Emma Oosterhous, and were awarded their PhD in comics from the University of Dundee in 2021. They co-created Grand Slam Romance with their wife Emma Oosterhous, and are known across UK comics for their fun and engaging original series (Last Summer at Camp Righteous, Butch Bros Versus, Sarararara). They will be bringing their latest original work Last Summer at Camp Righteous to the convention this year, a graphic novella about disaster gays at a remote Christian festival.

AC Macdonald is an award winning writer and illustrator from Glasgow, and creator of Twistwood Tales. Within his work he aims to recreate for others a little of the magic he got to enjoy by reading comics growing up. Twistwood Tales is a comic with a big cast of characters, some familiar, some less so, which tell stories for those who like fairy tales, not grim, but twisted.
