UK small press comics fans take note! Today’s new set of British postage stamps feature art from a familiar name from the Avery Hill Publishing stable of creative talent – London illustrator (and Metroland contributor) Rebecca Strickson.
The set of eight stamps feature a selection of archaeological treasures and prehistoric sites from Ancient Britain. Four of the stamps combine Strickson’s gorgeous figure work on photographic backdrops while the other four show the artefacts of another era as they would have been wielded, worn or utilised at the time. They include locations like Skara Brae and Avebury and age-old relics like the Battersea shield and the Star Carr headdress.
It’s a juxtaposition that is both haunting and evocative. All eight stamp designs can be seen above and you can buy them from today from the Royal Mail shop here.
