And we’re off…
In less than two weeks time the Broken Frontier Editorial Team will be on their way to Leeds for this year’s Thought Bubble festival and, as you have no doubt noticed, the demand for coverage has been so large this year that we began putting up Thought Bubble previews and reviews last week in an attempt to fit in as many as possible before the event. You’ll be able to find them all in one place here as we continue to add to them over the next fortnight.
While we won’t be theming a week around Thought Bubble (our focus on mainly the alt, indie and small press worlds wouldn’t represent or reflect just how broad TB’s remit is) we will be running a lot of features on those self-published and micropublished TB debut books.
You can also look for a Thought Bubble Staff Picks Special going up the week before to make sure you don’t miss out on some of the very best festival launches. But don’t forget to hunt round those exhibitor rooms looking for some hidden gems yourselves. We’ll only have time for a small sampling of the new books coming out in Leeds after all.
And, on a related note, a reminder that you can catch me on the Gosh! Comics ‘The Best Thing I’ve Read All Year’ panel hosted by Tom Oldham on the Saturday morning at 11.00am in the Carriageworks Main Auditorium alongside Marley Zarcone (Shade the Changing Girl), Hannah K. Chapman (Comic Book Slumber Party), Katie Skelly (My Pretty Vampire), Spike Trotman (Iron Circus Comics) and Kelly Kanayama (Women Write About Comics, Mindless Ones). My pick last year – Jade Sarson’s For the Love of God, Marie! – sold out at Thought Bubble after the panel. Let’s see if we can do the same for a deserving book this year!
Next week we’ll talk a little more about where you can expect to see both myself and BF’s Operations Editor EdieOP over the weekend. Until then, enjoy the Thought Bubble-related goodies we’ll be posting this week…
