Currently crowdfunding on IndieGoGo, The Epics of Enkidu combines super-heroics, graphic medicine and mythology. Series creator Ahmed Alameen talks about the project in the press release below.
‘The Epics of Enkidu’
Featuring a superhero with Autism, in a sequel to the oldest story found in human history
The Epics of Enkidu is a comic book that features a superhero who happens to be Autistic, in what could be the sequel to the oldest story ever found in human history, The Epic of Gilgamesh. The story takes place in a modern setting, where Enkidu is brought back and he does not remember who he is. Being autistic, his brain works so fast, that everything around him moves too slow, which makes him act socially odd and interacts with the world differently, but it does help him analyze everything, and it allows him to see the patterns of things; things that can happen before they happen. It can be handy when he is in danger, but not when you try to communicate with him.
Our team consists of writer/colorist Ahmed Alameen, who has previously become a national best seller with his book Psychs, and was inspired to create a neurodiverse hero by his nephew, who is in the autism spectrum. The pencil and inking is done by Artist Moacir Muniz, who is a prolific comic artist in his home country, Brazil.
The comic was funded in less than two weeks on Indiegogo, making it possible not to just tell an engaging story, but also to spread acceptance and awareness about Autism, which is our main motive to push this campaign. By funding this comic, you are creating a great contribution to the autistic community and to the people surrounding them. You will also be going to revive the oldest story ever found in human history; The Epic of Gilgamesh, and make others become more interested in history and ancient stories that withstood the test of time.
