Hugely popular UK creator Alex Norris has asked for the comics community’s support in a legal battle against a US publishing company attempting to claim ownership of their internet sensation Webcomic Name comic. The series of (usually) three-panel strips has become a major online hit with its “Oh No” punchline allowing Norris to produce a range of material from frothy silly fun to full-on social commentary. In the past we have interviewed Alex here at BF and reviewed the print collection of the comic here.
It’s hard to even begin to comprehend how devastating this state of affairs must be for a popular cartoonist who has been brightening up our social media feeds for years. Norris explains the situation in this thread on Twitter, including the help they need to cover their remaining legal fees. There’s a GoFundMe here and we’re imploring anyone who feels they are in a position to support it to bung a few quid Alex’s way. Let’s make sure we all do everything we can to keep this British indie comics institution in the right hands – its creator’s!
