10 YEARS OF THE BF SIX TO WATCH! We need more small press comics anthologies in the UK. I have been saying this for a few years now at Broken Frontier. When I first started specialising in UK small press comics 15 or so years ago they were everywhere, providing a vital platform and support for less experienced comics creators. In recent times, though, they seem to have fallen out of favour. So when we’re alerted to one with a specific mission to promote emerging voices it’s important we give them a shout-out here at BF.
Currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter Bosh Zine is a comics and illustration anthology based on a one-word theme. This time around that is ‘Lawless’. Of particular note is that this edition also features work from our 2019 Broken Frontier ‘Six to Watch’ artist Abs Bailey (below), alongside Joe Lack, MOE, Jack Sprattus, Ky Lawrence, Kieran Ryder-Lewis, Jay Jujube, Matt Beese, Joe Savage, Caitlin Booton, Sammie McEwan and Lee Best. There’s plenty of art on that Bosh campaign page to feast your eyes on and a number of names new to even us here at Broken Frontier Towers. Check it out!
2024 marks the tenth year of Broken Frontier’s ‘Six to Watch‘ initiative. Look for articles throughout the year celebrating the work of those artists who have been a part of the programme.
