Back in October, at London’s Orbital Comics, our own Editor-in-Chief Andy Oliver took part in the ‘Defend Comics’ panel hosted by Chris Thompson with comics artist Khary Randolph and Comic Book Legal Defense Fund Deputy Director Alex Cox. The event saw the UK launch of Brooklyn Brewery’s beer Defender IPA – the label of which had been designed by Randolph – and the panellists discussed their own work in defending comics and the links between a good pint of ale and sequential art!
That lively discussion – held while the participants also partook of the 6.7% brew – covered the invaluable work of the CBLDF, the design of the Defender character, Broken Frontier’s role in championing and mentoring exciting new creators, and even our esteemed EiC’s #comicsinthepub hashtag on social media!
The panel is now available as a podcast in the Orbital in Conversation series on the Orbital site here or on Multiversity here. Check it out and also discover which series Andy recommends as his favourite ever comic about alcohol-based misadventures…
