It’s been a good couple of years since I reviewed the last collection of John Cei Douglas’s comics here at Broken Frontier. Show Me the Map to Your Heart & Other Stories was a stunning and often overwhelmingly poignant compilation which was distributed by the much missed Great Beast in 2014. I said then that “John Cei Douglas has a gift to make the melancholic beautiful and to immerse his audience in the emotional highs and lows of his characters in a way that few creators can match.”
That comic also made my list of ‘Ten UK Small Press Comics You Need to Own!‘ for 2014 and this weekend sees a long-awaited new batch of tales from a creator whose sensitively presented work always makes an impression. Static is described as “a collection of short stories exploring the passage of time, going back home and feeling you no longer belong, the disappointment of the physical self, people longing for connections and lonely sleepless nights…”
Available this weekend at ELCAF you can add this book to your no doubt already unmanageable list of must-buy comics at the festival! Enjoy this exclusive preview below…
