The Shaky Kane Renaissance continues apace this weekend after the recent exhibition of his work returned to Orbital Comics in a new expanded incarnation! Saturday sees a special Shaky-themed party night which will include a director’s commentary – alongside former Broken Frontier columnist David Hine – on their recent Bulletproof Coffin: The 1000 Yard Stare one-shot from Image Comics and a showing of Steve Cook’s film Shaky Kane Unravelled.
With that incredible retrospective compilation Good News Bible: The Complete Deadline Strips of Shaky Kane from Breakdown Press earlier this year (from which the exhibition takes its cue), new Bulletproof Coffin, and Kane and Baker’s Last Driver from Dead Canary Comics it’s been a banner twelve months or so for this vitally important name in modern UK comics history.
The event information from the Orbital site is below. Londoners not heading to the Bristol Comic and Zine Fair this weekend would be well advised to make a visit to Great Newport Street on Saturday night!
Due to popular demand, Orbital Gallery is very pleased to announce a revised and expanded Shaky Kane exhibition celebrating the publication of Good News Bible: The Complete Deadline Strips.
With more pieces than previously, and a preview of Shaky’s contribution for our forthcoming Kirby Consciousness exhibition, this is a chance for anyone who missed the first showing in summer.
In addition, Shaky himself will be joining us on Saturday October 7th for a signing (from 5pm) and opening party (from 7pm), alongside Mr David Hine and together they will deliver a Director’s Commentary on their recent hit, Bulletproof Coffin: 1000 Yard Stare. As if that wasn’t enough, we will be screening Steve Cook’s remarkable documentary, Shaky Kane Unravelled. Free Entry.
