It’s pleasing to see in-person events gradually returning to the comics calendar including Graphic Brighton, an event we’ve enjoyed immensely in the past and one that has a cracking line-up of guests and talks this year on May 27th-28th. More details from the Graphic Brighton team below including how to book your free tickets.
At Graphic Brighton 2022, the guest of honour is former comics laureate Michael Rosen who will be talking about turning his much loved children’s book You’re Thinking About Tomatoes into a graphic novel with illustrator Cole Henley, following in the footsteps of his other children’s comics Red Ted and the Lost Things, and Send for a Superhero!…
Various cartoonists in attendance include Woodrow Phoenix – who will be talking about his new Donny Digits book – plus Zoom Rockman and Coco Kirkland, discussing what it’s like making comics and being published while still a teenager; Matt Baxter will be chatting about creating strips for the revival of Monster Fun!, Jaime Huxtable and Zara Slattery will talk about the differences of creating strips for young and older readers, and much more…
Also, Chris Thompson & Will O’Mullane from charity Comic Books for Kids UK are going discuss initiatives to bring comics into hospitals and other medical facilities to help and entertain children, and former comics laureate Hannah Berry, alongside award winning podcast producer Lance Dann, will be discussing combining comics and podcasts in the multi-media Sci-FI project The Rez, promoting kindness and resilience for kids during lockdown.
