Leaf and Signal announces two new book releases: “A Rabbit Asking Oft He Ghosts,” a poetry-comic by Warren Craghead and “Crown’d,” a book of work made by artists during quarantine in Charlottesville, Va. USA.

“A Rabbit Asking Oft He Ghosts” by Warren Craghead is a drawn version of the poet Wallace Steven’s work “A Rabbit as King of the Ghosts.” Craghead encodes Stevens’ poem into drawn icons, sequential images and signs, finding visual rhythms and rhymes to match the original work. “Each line of the original poem is a group of drawings; each stanza a page of the book. I wanted to mirror in images what Stevens made in words,” Craghead says. Based in Charlottesville, Va. USA, Craghead’s work frequently brings images and words together as poetry-comics. “A Rabbit Asking Oft He Ghosts” has been previously published in the journal Phoebe and on The Hooded Utilitarian.

“Crown’d” features work from Charlottesville-area artists Courtney Coker, Warren Craghead, Stacey Evans, John Grant, Samantha Pagni, Jason Robinson, Lisa Ryan, Shannon Worrell and Sarah Boyts Yoder. “Crown’d” includes drawings, photographs, paintings and digital collages and is available to read for free online and to be purchased in print at Leaf and Signal’s website. The book was originally released online last summer and is now available in printed form.
