The Scottish Independent Comic Book Alliance Awards return this year for their ninth incarnation with the results to be announced at Glasgow Comic Con on June 28th. The Awards are “dedicated to supporting and nurturing Scotland’s vibrant and unique independent comic book scene” and were set up to “celebrate the ongoing growth of the medium in Scotland.” Past winners across the six categories have included Colin Bell and Neil Slorance’s Dungeon Fun, Morag Kewell’s Big in Japan, Chris Baldie and Michael Park’s Space Captain and Zhou Fang’s Garden.
This year’s judges are programme leader for Creative Writing at Edinburgh Napier University and former 2000 AD editor David Bishop, Little Shop of Heroes co-owner and Dunfermline Comic Con co-organiser Sinéad Grainger and our own Editor-in-Chief Andy Oliver. The Awards are sponsored by the ever supportive Comic Printing UK and there’s still time to submit to the Awards which close later this week.
