Happy Birthday, Six-to-Watch!
Small presses and D.I.Y. productions are the vibrant core of the colourful and complex comics world.
They are the vibrant space for experimenting with new perspectives, creating new narratives, and fostering new collaborations. The existence of this same world depends on passionate cultural operators like ‘Broken
Frontier’, the multiple award-winning webzine and a comics community hub founded in 2002 in Belgium by Frederik Hautain and currently owned by Editor-in-Chief Andy Oliver since 2017. Its international team of contributors now provides reviews, interviews/features and relevant news updates every weekday.
BF actively seeks out deserving emerging voices in comics to champion their work and bring it to wider audiences. Since 2015, it has promoted the annual ‘Six Small Press Creators to Watch.’ The programme is aimed at supporting the chosen artists by providing them with a year of guaranteed coverage at BF, individual mentoring, and multiple opportunities to be a part of BF-related comics events, panels, and talks.
