In the early part of 2013 Tempo Lush’s Richy K. Chandler instigated a rather fun little initiative he called the Webcomic Artist Swap Project (or WASP for short) that saw some of the UK’s top online comickers temporarily exchanging artistic duties on their various creations. It was an intriguing opportunity to observe some of our favourite webcomic practitioners putting unique visual spins on their contemporaries’ characters, and included a number of artists we’ve interviewed here in our ‘Small Pressganged’ column recently (Richy himself, Zarina Liew and British Comics Awards Emerging Talent nominee Jade Sarson).
WASP is now gearing up for a 2014 incarnation and is looking to be an even bigger affair this time around. Already confirmed as taking part are the likes of Richy K. Chandler, David O’Connell, Zarina Liew, Jade Sarson, Louise Wei & Dave Hodgkinson, Francesca Dare, Rebecca Burgess, Evelyn Hewett, Nicola Streeten, Sarah Turner, Matt Boyer, Rachael Smith and Reed Hawker. If you’re a webcomic creator and you’re interested in being a part of WASP 2014 then Richy is actively looking for new recruits to join the swapover crew. Full details can be found on the WASP website while the cartoon below gives you an idea of the process involved!
